HISTORY, NEWS - East of the Byzantium

East of the Byzantium is a new movie on Vartan Mamikonyan which is now being filmed in Hollywood. Famous Armenian filmmakers including Roger Kupelian and Alina Khanjian are also involved in the creation of the movie. Even though, we are all glad that the film is being made about Vartan Mamikonyan, we must also note that the title of the film is rather disappointing because it does NOT clearify that it is about Armenia and does not clearify that Armenia is a standing kingdom that is independent, has an independent and ancient identity that not only predates Byzantium, but the Roman Empire, Persian Empire and even Greece. Throughout the first interview with Alina Khanjian, Armenia is not mentioned at all. There is even a part where she says, "He(St. Gregory) is responsible for bringing Christianity to the Nation". She could have easily said "Armenia", "the Armenian Nation", or "the Armenains", but she is avoiding using those terms. Also in the first interview, the sword that the cameraman is holding is very similar to a Chinese double-edged straight sword called Jian. The second one was much better.
